Production Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Production Engineer to join our team at our headquarters in Bergen, Norway, reporting to our Production Manager.
The Production Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe production of goods while maintaining high-quality standards. This role combines technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and continuous improvement efforts to optimize production processes and achieve production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Process Optimization:
- Analyze and assess existing production processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement process enhancements to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize waste.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery and efficient use of resources.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support for production teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth operation of production lines.
- Identify and troubleshoot machinery malfunctions, production bottlenecks, and quality concerns.
- Work with the maintenance team to ensure machinery and equipment are operating at peak efficiency.
Quality Control:
- Monitor and ensure production quality meets established standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production process and finished products.
- Implement corrective actions when deviations from quality standards occur.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:
- Drive the implementation of lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve process flow.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, etc.) to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform decisions and strategies.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety guidelines, and environmental standards.
- Conduct training on safe operating procedures for production teams.
Production Planning & Coordination:
- Support in developing and implementing production plans to meet customer demand, taking into account material availability, equipment capacity, and workforce.
- Support in Coordinating with the procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Support monitoring inventory levels and help manage stock to minimize shortages or excess inventory.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate production records, including process documentation, maintenance logs, and quality assurance reports.
- Prepare regular reports for management on production performance, including output, downtime, and quality metrics.
- Assist in preparing and updating Work Instructions (WI) & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the Research and Development (R&D), Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams to ensure that new processes and products are efficiently brought to market.
- Assist in the development and implementation of process controls, training, and documentation for operators and other relevant teams.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certifications in process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean) is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in process engineering or a related field, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience in process design, process control, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Familiarity with process simulation tools and software (e.g., Minitab, AutoCAD, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with automation and robotics in manufacturing environments.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Proficient in data analysis, statistical process control, and process optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
