Battery Modelling Specialist
About the Role
Corvus Energy is expanding its Research & Technology team with a Battery Modeling Specialist. As LFP and LMFP chemistries become a major part of our product portfolio, we face unique challenges in digital twin development, state estimation, and diagnostics. This role is central to ensuring accurate SOC, SOH, SOR, and lifetime modeling—critical for both product performance and class society approvals.
The position is designed for a technical expert (no personnel management responsibilities) who thrives at the intersection of control systems engineering, applied mathematics, and physics, with a complementary interest in batteries and materials science.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and refine models for SOC, SOH, SOR, and lifetime estimation of LFP cells
Implement algorithms in Python and Simulink, with emphasis on Kalman filters and advanced estimation techniques
Automate workflows from cell test results to validated models
Collaborate with different disciplines to integrate models into Corvus’ control, diagnostics, and optimization applications
Contribute to ongoing EU research projects, benefiting from a wide European expert network and access to shared expertise and datasets
Simulate operational conditions to optimize battery system performance and support certification processes
Candidate Profile
Strong background in control systems engineering and applied modelling
Proficiency in Python and Simulink for algorithm development
Solid understanding of Kalman filters and state estimation methods
Strong mathematical and physical modeling skills
Interest in battery testing and automating the path from data to models
Curiosity about batteries and a basic understanding of electrochemistry
The ideal candidate is 80% programmer/control systems/mathematics/physics expert and 20% battery/materials scientist. If we must choose, control systems expertise is the priority.
